how to do different headers on each page word

Generally, in order to have different headers on different pages, the pages must have different page styles, not different paragraph styles for the headers. My header simply reverts to page 1 (just as the other users have said). I cannot seem to resolve this by using the Apply Styles or using left and right header. I believe Microsoft Word has an option for 'different 1st page header' or some such option!
